This article details the process for enabling Analytics in a Sandbox environment. Upon purchasing Analytics licenses from Certinia, Salesforce automatically enables the feature in the Production environment only. To enable Analytics in a Sandbox, one must perform a full Sandbox refresh after the feature is active in Production. Alternatively, a case can be created with Salesforce to request the feature be enabled directly in the Sandbox. Matching licenses alone will not enable the feature.

Procedure

The purpose of this Byte is to answer questions about getting access to Analytics in SB. Certinia recommends that Analytic Packages be installed in Production first since it's a read-only product that will not affect core packages. If the Organization Upgraded or if Analytics is already is already being used, as FinancialForce does internally, then a Sandbox install is recommended. The Analytics platform will be a new feature for many Clients and as such this platform needs to be enabled in the relevant environments.

Can Analytics be installed in Sandbox?

Yes.

How is Analytics enabled?

Once Analytics Licenses are purchased from Certinia (i.e. Financial Statements or Analytics) then Salesforce automatically enables Analytics in the Production environment only - not in the Sandbox. This process typically takes between 6 and 48 hours for it to be enabled after the purchase of licenses. The Certinia Analytics packages can be installed in production from this point.

It's enabled in Production what about Sandbox?

There are a few different paths to have Analytics enabled in Sandbox. One of the following steps must be followed before the Certinia packages can be installed.

Option 1:

  1. Analytics Purchased from Certinia
  2. Salesforce automatically enables Analytics in production.
  3. Certinia Analytics installed in Production.
  4. Full Sandbox Refresh
  5. Success! Analytics and Certinia Analytics package are enabled in the sandbox.

Option 2:

  1. Analytics Purchased from Certinia.
  2. Salesforce automatically enables Analytics in production.
  3. Full Sandbox Refresh
  4. Success! Analytics in the sandbox and there is an option to have Certinia Analytics packages installed.

Option 3:

  1. Analytics Purchased from Certinia.
  2. Salesforce automatically enables Analytics in Production.
  3. There is an option to create a case with Salesforce asking for Analytics to be enabled in Sandbox.
  4. Wait for Salesforce case to be resolved while they give updates every day to say they will give an update tomorrow.
  5. Success! Salesforce enabled Analytics in the Sandbox and  there is an option to have Certinia Analytics packages installed.
Can't I just match licenses?

No. Analytics is a feature. Licenses will match but the feature will not be enabled.
