Bite Size Analytics: What are Some Considerations for Accessing Analytics?

There are two types of analytics users to consider when managing access: Admin Users and View Users. Admin Users can edit dashboards, create dataflows, and share apps, requiring specific permission sets and licenses. View Users can only consume analytics content, such as viewing dashboards, and require a different set of permissions. Proper permission assignment is necessary for users to access analytics through the Analytics Studio App.

I often get questions from customers who have analytics set up for some users, but others are having difficulties accessing things. When it comes to setting up users, there are two types to consider. This article will go over both.

Admin UsersThese are the users who will be editing dashboards, they will be creating dataflows, apps and additional datasets. They will have the ability to share apps with users to give relevant access (See the Sharing Byte)

View UsersThese are very unique to FinancialForce and are simply users who will be consuming items within Analytics and not creating them. They can view and interact with dashboards and lens but not create items.

Once the correct permissions are assigned, you'll be abe to access Analytics from either the Analytics tab or the Analytics Studio App. I would recommend the Analytics Studio App as the Analytics tab has some restrictions like export. In some instances, users are unable to see the Analytics studio app. They may need to change the visibility settings for their users through Setup > App Menu as outlined below.


Analytics Studio is likely to be further down the list of available Apps.
