CL: Error Message: "Record skipped. XXX not selected for processing."

The error "Record skipped. XXX not selected for processing" occurs when a prerequisite for a ClickLink rule is not met. The rule's 'Source Object Process Field' specifies a condition that must be satisfied on the record. To resolve this, identify the required field by reviewing the ClickLink Rule details in the integration logs. Ensure the specified field, often a checkbox, is set to true on the record before attempting to use the ClickLink button again.

Symptoms
  • Click a custom ClickLink button on a page, following error occurs: 
  • Error Message: "Record skipped. XXX not selected for processing"
Resolution
  • On the record with the ClickLink button, under the 'Integration Rule Log Line Items' related list (if there is no related list, go to All Tabs > ClickLink Logs" :
  1. Review the Log Line Item ID's 
  2. Click the Log Line Item ID that's associated with the following error: "Record skipped. XXX not selected for processing."
  3. Under the 'ClickLink Details' section, click on the link in the ClickLink Rule field.
  4. Under the 'ClickLink Rule Detail' section, note down the value populated for the Source Object Process Field. Eg. "pse__Approved__c"
  • Navigate back to the record with the ClickLink button:
  1. Locate the Source Object Process Field identified above, in step 4.
  2. Typically a check box, ensure that this is marked as true (ticked).
    1. If the field does not appear on the page, go to Setup > Search for "Objects" > Select the object used > Click Page Layout 
    2. Add the field to the page layout and click Save.
  • Once the above has been performed:
  1. Click the ClickLink button on the record again to run the ClickLink Rule.
  2. ClickLink Rule should now run without an issue.
Cause
  • The Source Object Process Field on the ClickLink rule identifies the prerequisites required on the record for the ClickLink Rule to execute.
  • In this scenario, the Source Object Process Field identifies a checkbox field as the prerequisite - thus must be marked as true in order for the ClickLink Rule to execute without error. 
Additional Notes
  • In certain cases, on more complex ClickLink Rules, the Source Object Process Field (from step 5) may identify a formula field - which may identify more fields required to be marked as "True" before the ClickLink Rule will execute. 
  • If the 'Integration Rule Log Line Items' related list does not appear on the record layout, navigate to the object and layout and add it manually - raise a case with the support team should this not be an option.
