Conga: Error Message: "Insufficient Privileges." When Using Conga Composer

Users may encounter an "Insufficient Privileges" error message when generating a document with Conga Composer. This error can occur when permissions are not set up correctly or an outdated version is in use. To resolve this issue, you must update the Salesforce token within the Conga Batch Setup tab. Additionally, you should review and follow the steps outlined in the Conga documentation for configuring the connected app.

Release Version
Symptoms
  1. Access any Billing Event that has not been invoiced
  2. Click on Create Invoice button
  3. Or similar steps to generate a Conga PDF
  4. Error message:
"Insufficient Privileges
You do not have the level of access necessary to perform the operation you requested. Please contact the owner of the record or your administrator if access is necessary. For more information, see Insufficient Privileges Errors"

 

Resolution
  • Resolution 1
  1. Go to Conga Batch Setup tab
  2. Select check box for Enable Conga Batch... 
  3. Click on Update Salesforce Token button
Note: When logging in, use actual user credentials to login and do not use any impersonation login
 
Cause
  • Upgrade to the latest version of Conga Composer
  • The permissions had not been adequately setup as outlined in the Conga article
