FAM: Error Message: "Unable to cancel asset. [Asset must be New or Active to cancel]"

An error stating "Unable to cancel asset. [Asset must be New or Active to cancel]" appears when attempting to cancel an asset. This occurs because assets can only be canceled if their status is "New" or "Active". For assets with any other status, the disposal process must be used instead.

Symptoms
  1. When cancelling an Asset the following error will appear: 
    • "Unable to cancel asset. [Asset must be New or Active to cancel]"
Resolution
  1. Assets can only be specifically cancelled if their status is either:
  • "New"
  • "Active" 
       2. If the Asset has a different status then the "Disposal" process should be followed instead. 
Cause
  • Only certain statuses will allow the Asset to be cancelled, per the above.
