FAM: How to Create a Fixed Assets Report: Depreciation Schedules With Journals and Journal Line Items

To generate a Fixed Assets report, a custom report type must be created. This report type should show Depreciation Schedules with their associated Journals and Journal Line Items. The process involves defining object relationships and then building the report by adding relevant columns such as Depreciation Amount and Effective Depreciation Date.   • To report on Depreciation Schedules without Journals as well, create another report type but substitute the line below for step 7 in 'Create a custom report type to show Depreciation Schedules with Journals and Journal Line Items' above
  • 7. In the B box, use the Select Object drop down to choose "Journals"
    1. Select Each "A" record must have at least one related "B" record to include only Depreciation Schedules with Journals
    2. In the box below click Click to relate another object
  • Suggested columns:
  1. FA Depreciation Schedule Name
  2. Journal Number
  3. Depreciation Amount
  4. Effective Depreciation Date
  5. Journal Line Item ID
  6. General Ledger Account: Name
  7. Value 
Procedure
  • Create a custom report type to show Depreciation Schedules with Journals and Journal Line Items
  1. Click Setup > Click Report Types > New Custom Report Type
  2. Select Primary Object of "Depreciation Schedules"
  3. Enter the Report Type Label of "Depreciation Schedules with Journals and Journal Line Items" > click Tab to populate Report Type Label
  4. Enter the Description of "Depreciation Schedules with Journals and Journal Line Items"
  5. Select Store in Category of "Other Reports" > select Deployment Status of "Deployed" > Next
  6. Under Primary Object click Click to relate another object 
  7. In the B box, use the Select Object drop down to choose "Journals"
    1. Select Each "A" record must have at least one related "B" record to include only Depreciation Schedules with Journals
    2. In the box below click Click to relate another object
  8. In the C box, use the Select Object drop down to choose "Journals Line Items"
    1. Select  Each "B" record must have at least one related "C" record
  9. Click Save
  • ​Create a custom report type including Depreciation Schedules with Journals and Journal Line Items
  1. Go to Reports tab > New Report
  2. In Quick find, enter "Depreciation Schedules with Journals and Journal Line Items" & click on the matching Report Type below > Create
  3. In quick find on the upper left, type "Amount" > double click on Depreciation Amount to add column to the report
  4. In quick find on the upper left, type "effective" > double click on Effective Depreciation Date to add column to the report
  5. In quick find on the upper left, type "general" > double click on General Ledger Account: Name to add column to the report
  6. In quick find on the upper left, type "value" > double click on Value to add column to the report > Save
  7. Enter Report Name of "Depreciation Schedules with Journals and Journal Line Items" > click Tab to populate Report Unique Name
  8. Select "Fixed Asset Reports" for the Report Folder > Save
  9. Select "All depreciation schedules" for the Show field > Set Time Frame > Run Report
