AC: Error message: "You cannot delete Account XXX as the Merge Accounts has not been executed"

An error stating "You cannot delete Account XXX as the Merge Accounts has not been executed" occurs when the process is performed incorrectly or requirements are not met. Certain preconditions must be satisfied before merging. All accounts must share the same trading currency, and all related documents and payment proposals must be complete. Additionally, users may require specific permission sets, such as "Accounting - Merge Account" and "Accounting - Merge Account - Run", to complete the action.

Symptoms
  • Error message: "You cannot delete Account XXX as the Merge Accounts has not been executed" when trying to use the Merge Accounts feature
Resolution
  1. This error occurs when the Merge Accounts process is completed incorrectly or the requirements for the Accounts tab are not met
    1. Reference Merging Accounts 
Cause
  • The user attempts to Merge Accounts without completing all the steps in the process
Additional Notes
  • All Accounts must have the same Account Trading Currency
  • All related documents must be "Complete"
  • All related payment proposals must be "Complete"
  • The Account does not belong to a Company (it is not an Intercompany Account) 
  1. After completing Stage 1 of merging the AC Accounts, go to the Accounts tab and to see the section in the bottom right called Tools 
  2. In that section, there is a link called Merge Accounts 
  3. Go to the Merge Accounts tab (All Tabs (+) > Merge Accounts) to run the validation process and then
  4. Go to Accounts > Tools > Merge Accounts 
  • First step to check on is
  1. Log into the Org as system administrator 
  2. Under Manage Users < Users < click that specific User's name reporting this issue  
  3. Click Permission Set Assignments 
  4. A System Administrator can click Edit Assignments on this User webpage and add the following permissions: 
  • "Accounting - Merge Account" 
  • "Accounting - Merge Account - Run" (if required)
