Foundations: Error Message: “Unauthorized endpoint, please check Setup->Security->Remote site settings. endpoint = https://sdw-wsrest.ecb.europa.eu/service/data/EXR/D..EUR.SP00.A" when Running Update Exchange Rates Job

An "Unauthorized endpoint" error can occur when running the Update Exchange Rates scheduled job. This error is caused by a missing Remote Site Setting for the European Central Bank or an incorrectly specified Rate Provider. To resolve this, a new Remote Site Setting for the European Central Bank must be created, and the Rate Provider must be correctly set on the Exchange Rate Updates tab.

  1. User is trying to run the Update Exchange Rates Scheduled Job
  2. Error occurs:

“Unauthorized endpoint, please check Setup->Security->Remote site settings. endpoint = https://sdw-wsrest.ecb.europa.eu/service/data/EXR/D..EUR.SP00.A?detail=dataonly&startPeriod=XXXX-XX-XX&endPeriod=XXXX-XX-XX”

Resolution
Resolution 1:
  • Create Remote Site Setting for European Central Bank as outlined in the help
  1. Go to Setup > Remote Site Settings
  2. Click New Remote Site
  3. Enter in Remote Site Name "European Central Bank", for example
  4. Enter in Remote Site URL "https://data-api.ecb.europa.eu""
  5. The Active flag should be checked
  6. Click Save

Resolution 2:

  • Ensure the Rate Provider is correctly specified on the Exchange Rate Updates tab
Cause
Cause 1:
  • Remote Site Setting for European Central Bank had not been configured
Cause 2:
  • The Rate Provider was set to "European Central Bank" rather than "Salesforce" and so the system expected a Remote Site Setting to exist for European Central Bank and failed as it was not configured
