PSA: Adding Project Tasks from Template is Not Creating Tasks

When adding project tasks from a template, the tasks may fail to be created. This issue occurs when Salesforce Notifications are disabled. To resolve this, you must enable in-app and push notifications within the Salesforce Notification settings.

Symptoms
  • When adding Project Tasks from Template is not creating tasks and no email notifications received for success or failure
  • Steps to replicate
    • Go to a Project > Actions > click Add Project Task from Template (From any template available)
    • Step through the process of adding a task 
    • After completing the steps, wait for the task to be added
    • No Project task are added into the project

By checking in the debug logs the following error can be seen:  “FATAL_ERROR|System.HandledException: Unsupported action type: CUSTOM_NOTIFICATION_ACTION” 

Resolution
  1. Enable the following settings under Setup>Salesforce Notification:
  • Enable in-app notifications
  • Enable push notifications
Cause
  • Salesforce Notifications were disabled
