PSA: Error Message: "Error: No opportunity found for id xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: List has no rows for assignment to SObject"

An error occurs when using the "Create Project" button on the Project detail page. This error appears because the system expects an Opportunity record ID, which is not present in that context. The "Create Project" button should only be used from an Opportunity detail page. To create a child project from a Project detail page, users should utilize the "New Project" button within the 'Immediate Sub-Projects' related list.

Symptoms
  • When user clicks Create Project button under 'Immediate Sub-Projects' related list on Project detail page, then below error appears
  • Error Message: "Error:  No opportunity found for id xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: List has no rows for assignment to SObject"
Resolution
  1. As per design, user shouldn't click Create Project button under 'Immediate Sub-Projects' related list on the Project detail page. This button should be used on Opportunity detail page only. 
  2. New Project button can be used by the user to create child Project from 'Immediate Sub-Projects' related list on the Project detail page.
Cause
  • Create Project button will expect Opportunity record id when creating a Project record.
