PSA: In the Time Entry View, the Assignment Line Header Can Show Hours Per Day that are Inconsistent with the Task-based Data Being Saved

When a specific custom setting is enabled in the Time Entry view, deleting all task time records may not delete the corresponding timecard. This can cause a discrepancy where the assignment line header continues to display hours that do not match the underlying task data. A defect in the Professional Services Automation application is the cause. This issue has been addressed in the Timesheet Entry interface.

Symptoms
  • When creating timecards with the Lock Timecard Hours in Calculated Mode custom setting enabled, deleting all task time records did not delete the timecard
  • In the Time Entry view, saving task-based time can lead to a discrepancy where the Assignment line header retains daily hours that don't align with the underlying task data, especially when removing Timecard lines and leaving orphaned hours from deleted tasks
  • Steps to replicate:
    • Go to App Launcher > go to Time Entry > choose an Assignment > Click Add Task > Enter Week hours and Notes > Save
    • Delete Task Lines > Click Save, (at this point a Validation error appears as we now have 0 hours entered) "One or more timecards were not saved. Review any errors."
    • Then Reload the page and review the previous Timecard entered
    • Note that the hours from the Task lines are removed, however, the Assignment header line values remain, leaving left over data, remaining which is not correct where the data is also misaligned

Resolution
  • Update the Professional Services Automation version to Winter 2025 SP12, Spring 2025 SP6 and Summer 2025 SP1
Cause
  • This is caused by a known Professional Services Automation defect
