PSA: Opportunity Close Date Auto Updates When Stage Is Marked As Closed Won

When an opportunity stage is changed to "Closed Won," the close date will automatically update to the current date. This occurs if the existing close date was set for a future date. This is expected behavior within Salesforce and is designed to reflect the date the opportunity was won.

  • When we mark the Opportunity as Closed Won, the Closed Date automatically sets to the current date.
Resolution
  • Yes, that is expected behavior in Salesforce. When you change the stage of an opportunity to "Closed Won" and the existing close date is set to a future date, Salesforce automatically updates the close date to the current date.
  • This is designed to reflect that the opportunity has been closed as won on the current day.
