PSA: Time Entry Screen Incorrectly Displays All Logged Hours as Billable, Including Non-Billable Projects

In Professional Services Automation, all logged hours may incorrectly appear as billable. This issue occurs when a user lacks the necessary permissions for the Billable field. To resolve this, read-only access must be granted to the Billable field on the Timecard object within the relevant Permission Set.

  • After saving, the sum of hours counts all hours as Billable hours, even for a Non-Billable project

Resolution

To resolve, grant Read-Only access for all affected users:                   

  1. Go to Setup  
  2. In Quick Find select Permission Sets
  3. Select the Custom Permission Set to be altered  > Object Settings > Timecard
  4. Set the Billable field to "true"   
  5. Click Save
  6. Confirm that the hours are displayed correctly
Cause
  • The hours logged for Billable and Non-Billable projects in the Time Entry Screen Hover display was not enabled for the user due to missing permissions on the Billable field.
