PSA: What is the Rate Card Logic for Directly Created or Edited Assignments

When an Assignment is created or edited directly from a Project, the system sets the Rate Card, Suggested Bill Rate, and Average Cost Rate fields. This action is based on a configurable order of precedence. The logic first seeks a role-based rate card for the project's account, then checks for rate cards matching the project's region, practice, or group. If no match is found, the system considers cascading rate cards or a default rate card with a matching role and currency.

Answer
  1. The product sets values on Rate Card, Suggested Bill Rate, Average Cost Rate fields when PSA code sets the Rate Card field. The logic is based on the below default order of precedence which is configurable.
    1. Role-based Rate Card and correct currency based on the Assignment’s Project’s Account
    2. Rate Card matching the Region of Assignment’s Project
    3. Rate Card matching the Practice of Assignment’s Project
    4. Rate Card matching the Group of Assignment’s Project
    5. Rate Card whose RPG is up the hierarchy parent/grandparent etc. of Assignment’s Project’s RPG where Rate Card has the cascading checkbox checked
    6. If there are no matches above, PSA looks for a Rate Card with no Account or Region, Practice or Group specified but with a matching role and currency

  2. When configuration changes are made to the default value record for the precedence-for-rate-cards configuration option, it is necessary to remove the pse__ from the API field names
