PSA: Why are the Project Task Assignment Date Changes Not Updating the Assignment Dates?

Project Task Assignment date changes may not update the assignment dates. This occurs if a specific configuration option, 'use-task-based-schedule-creation-strategy', is set to "false". To ensure date changes update the scheduled hours and dates, this setting must be set to "true". Additionally, edits will be ignored if a resource is scheduled for 24 hours or more in a single day.

Summary

  • Why are the Project Task Assignment date changes not updating the Assignment dates?
Answer
  1. The Project Task Assignment date changes are ignored if the 'use-task-based-schedule-creation-strategy' Configuration Option on the Resource Staffer Configuration Group is set to "false"
  2. If set to "false", the end date will be calculated using a ‘calculate end date, ignore availability’ Scheduling Strategy rather than the Project Task Assignment dates
  3. The 'use-task-based-schedule-creation-strategy' Configuration Option on the Resource Staffer Configuration Group needs to be set to "true" if the Scheduled Hours, Start Date, End Date fields needs to be updated by the Project Task Assignment date change
  4. If the individual Resource is scheduled 24 hours or more on a single day the edit is ignored

  • Use the Day view in the Resource Planner to see the individual Resource grand total of hours on the individual day
