Symptoms
  • When importing timecards with a 'null' status and an error occurs
  • Steps to replicate:
    1. Login with User >  Open Dev Console
    2. Select the Test Dropdown > Click New Run
    3. Under Test Classes, choose TimecardHeaderManagerTestApprover > Select the checkboxes for; approverShouldBeChangedToAccountOwner, approverShouldBeChangedToBidManager, approverShouldBeChangedToOppOwner
    4. Click Run
    5. Wait for the "Running tests synchronously" window to finish (this could take ~5 minutes).
    6. Error message: System.DmlException: Update failed. First exception on row 0 with id ...; first error: CANNOT_INSERT_UPDATE_ACTIVATE_ENTITY, pse.TimecardHeaderTrigger: execution of AfterUpdate caused by: System.NullPointerException: Argument cannot be null

Resolution
  • Updated the Professional Services Automation version Winter 2025 SP10
  • Workaround:
    • Modify your Test Class to include setting the Timecard Status during creation. Setting ONLY Status to "Approved" will allow it to Save, but not if you need another Status such as "Saved"
