When the first approver uses the Approve Multiple Timecards component in a two-step custom Timecard Approval Process, the user receives an error:

• The user receives an error message that includes "You do not have edit permission for this resource" and a NullPointerException

• The Approval Actions for the first step include field updates

• The issue does not occur when the Approval Actions are configured only in Final Approval Actions or when the approver has broader permissions

• Professional Services Cloud (PSC)
• All Versions

• Resolve the error by acknowledging and adopting Permission Controls for the Approver
• This grants the necessary edit access to the resource during the first approval step
• Investigation has confirmed that the observed behavior aligns with the permission requirements and that no other fix or alternative solution is available

The error occurs because the approver did not have the necessary Permission Controls record to grant edit access to the resource during the first approval step.
