  • If a timecard does not inherit from a milestone, the system falls back to the parent assignment Bill Rate

  • Unchecking Apply Default Bill Rate to Timecard prevents milestone-to-timecard defaulting, but a non-zero assignment Bill Rate still causes fallback behavior

  • Timecards inherit values at the time of creation or edit only

  • Leaving the milestone field blank on a timecard disconnects milestone roll-ups, though project and assignment totals persist

  • The Bill Rate Defaulted from Milestone field is a read-only timecard indicator

Procedure

To prevent Milestone Bill Rate inheritance, use one of the following methods prior to timecard creation:

Resolution 1: Set the Assignment Bill Rate to 0

  1. Navigate to the Assignment record

  2. Set the Bill Rate field to 0

Resolution 2: Mark the Assignment or Timecard as Non-Billable

  1. Navigate to the Assignment or Timecard record

  2. Mark the record as non-billable

Resolution 3: Adjust the Milestone Settings

  1. Navigate to the Milestone record

  2. Change the Apply Default Bill Rate to Timecard field to false

  3. Set the milestone default Bill Rate to 0.00
