ArticlesRetirement: Mass Resource Replacement

PSA

Why is the component being deprecated?

Upgrade (Innovation):The legacy VF page is outdated and no longer aligns with our product vision. We want to transition users to the Lightning "Swap Resources", which offers a more advanced and efficient user experience.

Reasons for the change include:

• Replacing legacy Visualforce technology with a Lightning-native component to provide a faster, more responsive user experience
• Removing the legacy Visualforce page and its associated controllers reduces technical debt and simplifies the package architecture
• Continued use of legacy Visualforce poses a risk to Salesforce Security Reviews
• Transitioning to Lightning-native components ensures compliance with modern security standards (e.g., Locker Service, LWS) and avoids potential blockers for future package certifications
• Ensuring the product stays aligned with the latest platform standards, moving away from Classic pages that hinder future UI/UX innovation

What is replacing the component ?

Lightning "Swap Resources" component. A modern, Lightning-native tool already available within the Resource Management module.

How should existing users transition to the new component?

New Customers:

• New environments will exclusively feature the "Swap Resources" Lightning button within the Resource Management module
• The legacy Visualforce page will be hidden by default for all new installations starting in Winter 27

Existing Customers:

• No data migration is required
  • This is a UI-only transition to a Lightning-native experience; underlying Resource Management data remains untouched

1. Before the Winter '27 release, remove any custom links or Classic buttons pointing to the legacy URL

Are there any impacts as a result of this retirement?

• Legacy VF allows multi-role filtering; Lightning currently supports single-role filtering only. To workaround this, perform individual searches for each required role.
• Due to low early adoption, no new development is planned
• Feedback is being monitored to determine if a future enhancement is required
