PSA: Submit for Approval Button on the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning Component Does Not Start Approval Process

The 'Submit for Approval' button on the Manage Skills and Certifications Lightning component marks a skill or certification as "Submitted" but does not initiate the approval process. This functionality is working as designed. Customers must implement a custom flow to trigger the approval process automatically. A feature request has been submitted to enhance this functionality in a future version.
